Onley Jumps On Yanks Bandwagon

Earlier in the season Buster Olney picked the Yankees to miss the playoffs. Today he explains why they've been so successful and why he made the wrong preseason pick. He says his two main reasons for picking against the Yanks was because he felt the Rays would be much better and that A-Rod wouldn't come back from the hip injury as well as he has.

If you have an ESPN Insider subscription it's definitely worth checking out.

Finally it seems that the Baseball Tonight folks have accepted the reality that the Yankees are actually pretty damn good. I actually tuned in last night for the first time in a while to see what they had to say about the Yanks, and even Red Sox die-hard Steve Berthiaume even admitted last night that most talk surrounding Boston's playoff chances revolve around the wild card because of the big lead the Yankees have built up.

The entire ESPN crew are anti-Yankees with the exception of Brian Kenny.

Most of the sports media were in love with the red sox. It drove me crazy I thought the yanks were going to win 100 games this year.

I got tired of listening to the red sox players are grinders yanks dont have gamers. Please like Jeter, Teixeira, Posada, Damon aren't gamers. You got guys like Swisher, Gardner they will get there uniform dirty.

The only advantage the red sox had in the beginning of the season was in the bullpen. Now that is no longer an advantage the yankees bullpen is just as good.

Olney used to be a yankees beat writer and he wrote "Last night of the Yankee Dynasty" which was one of the best books about the 96-2001 years ever written.

Rob Neyer on the other hand... http://tinyurl.com/qbc4fv

sports analysis people are just talking heads, most don't have deep allegiances to particular teams.
