A-Rod and Hairston Play Stickball

I got this in my inbox yesterday and thought you guys might be interested. It's video of Alex Rodriguez and Jerry Hairston Jr. playing stickball with some local little leaguers. Very nice gesture by the two Yankees.

The Yankees have certainly been making an effort to do some good in the community this year. I don't think these guys are contractually obligated to do this much stuff.

Somebody in the organization has obviously banged it into their heads that this stuff is good for the organization, the players and the community at large.

Great job by the Yanks!

Who is that blue guy? He's only with the Yanks when they do community work.

Is he like secretely becoming their new mascot?

I've searched for him on the internet but nothing comes up.

Wow... I watched that and somehow missed the mascot. Does anyone remember the short lived mascot Dandy?

He was around in the early 80's. Here is a pic of him.

The Yanks don't need a mascot.

I know. The weird thing is he comes with the Yankees to community stuff, but doesn't appear at games.

I just did another search on the internet and nothing about him came up.

He's been around since like April, I wonder why the Yanks haven't even introduced him formally or something.

I hate any kind of mascot, but at least it's for the kids. Still, the Yankees should never have a mascot.

thats awesome, thats how you win fans back, AROD, & that should only take a few hours of your time..

If I was A Rod as soon as that kid made me swing and miss I would've gone Billy Madison on their ass and been like "Now you're all in big trouble."

hahahahha that would have been hilarious. BUt you know the media would have spun it: A-ROD YELLS AT CHILDREN
