Why Is Cody Ransom Still On the Team?

Before I understood it. Pena still has some things he can learn in AAA. Maybe he can improve his hitting a bit and him learning centerfield would be nice. Besides, losing Ransom would cost us a little depth. He also hit .300 last year, he deserved another chance. However, now we have Jerry Hairston Jr. and I'm just really confused.

The stats are pretty well known. Even Hairston's meager .312 wOBA dwarfs Ransom's .265. Ransom really has not impressed me defensively at shortstop or second and judging by UZR, Hairston can match up with him pretty well. Its not a huge deal as long as he's not starting games but Ransom really should be headed the same way as Angel Berroa and Brett Tomko, out the door. Shelley Duncan's bat would be a nice addition to the bench and I don't understand why Cody Ransom is still on the team.

Agree 100% I can't think of one reasonable explination as to why he is on the roster with the addition of Hairston.

There is only one explanation...

Naked photos of Hal, Cash, Girardi and a goat in a compromising position.

It really doesn't make much sense.

I remember reading something over at RAB that mentioned Ransoms line when leading off an inning is an unimpressive 000./.000/.000.

Shelley would make 10x more sense. He can give Swisher and Damon days off when needed, while Hairston can deal with the infield, and also the outfield.

I mean, look at the last game against Chicago we just played. Remember when Hairston layed down that perfect sac bunt, which ultimately led us to tying the game? I 100% guarantee Ransom doesn't get it down.

Hairston also made a few nice plays at third, and is overall just a better player.

Shelley provides us with a solid bat off the bench with a lot of pop when we really need it. He also brings a lot of excitement with his energy, much like Cervelli did.

IMO, ditch Ransom, and call up either Shelley or Kroenke.

Where do we go when we die? What is the meaning of life? Where in the world is Carmen San Diego? And why is Cody Ransom on the roster?

These are some of life's greatest mysteries.

I'm with Crossfire -- There's a reason they call him Ransom. He's obviously got the incriminating evidence about Cashman.

Because they are scard of young players. Cody Ransom is a player who deserves to be cut. Cashman is scared s***less and when you are scared you make "safe" moves not good moves.
The moves to make are
Cut Ransom, Matsui,Damon,Mitre, Nady, Wang and Marte
Bring up Pena, Cervelli, Shelly Duncan, Igawa (as left hand bullpen guy)and Zach Kronke.
Oh Yeah Put Swisher on the bench we he deserves to be.
Remove the stupid innings limit on Joba and get Hughes in the starting rotation.
Now you have a younger more athletic team, better fielding and with more interchangible parts. Maybe they could actually beat the Red Sox or Angels.

I have also heard rumors of gerbils in the photos as well.

Dennis, you are officially retarded

Ransom is staying after practice and doing Girardi personal favors

Anonymous said...

Perhaps he's providing urine samples for A-Rod?

Nah, David Ortiz has that covered..

Oh wait...

some of the personel moves that Cashman and Girardi make are really pathetic...

Ransom should of never came back, Pena was doing great for this team!

Molina is a good catcher but he can't hit and doesnt bring that team energy and chemistry that Cerveli brought...Cerveli had some speed too!

Austin Jackson should be brought up to play CF every day for a week or so to see if he could make it in the majors this year. If he struggles then send him back down but its worth a try, I mean what if he played great? That would realy boost the outfield...You could have Damon, Jackson, Melky, with Swisher on the bench...

Shelly Duncan, would be a nice power bat off the bench. He also brings alot of energy...its certainly something to try!

And there are a few pitchers in the minors that have been doing really well lately, so why not give them a try mabe in the pen...such as Nova and Kroenke...

It just seems as if Cash and Joe never want make any moves that can change things up a bit for the better...it really is like they arn't fond of young talent!!
