Updated 7:22 p.m.: Jim Callis is now reporting that the Yankees have signed 16th rounder Bryan Mitchell to an $800,000 bonus.
Baeball America is reporting that the Yankees have signed 1st round pick outfielder Slade Heathcott for $2.2 million. George King reported earlier that the Yanks not only agreed to terms with Heathcott, but with 2nd round pick catcher John Murphy as well. Jim Callis confirmed this as well in the BA article saying "We’re also hearing that the Yankees have signed second-rounder J.R. Murphy. We’re working to confirm the terms of the deal."It’s the third-highest bonus after the 10th round this year, following Orioles signees Michael Ohlman ($995,000, 11th round) and Cameron Coffey ($990,000, 22nd round).
A righthander from Rockingham County High (Hamlet, N.C.), Mitchell throws a lively 90-91 mph fastball and a hard slider. He had committed to North Carolina.
Earlier in the day they came to terms with 5th round pick Vanderbilt right-hander Caleb Cotham for $675,000. According to Callis, "His bonus is $5,000 short of the highest in the fifth round this year (Jeff Malm, Rays) and is more than four times MLB’s $149,400 recommendation for his draft slot (No. 165)."
If there is anymore draft pick signing news I will post the update in this post.

Wow he got top 10 pick money, his slot was projected to get 1.1 million. JR Murphy also signed, the talented high school catcher.
Greg,
I'm not sure of the particulars, but what happens to players that dont sign by the deadline, like that kid strasburg with the nats, doesnt look like thats gonna go down but he's done with school, what happens next for those that are finished with college and dont sign? Summer leagues and see ya next year? can they sign anywhere else? Not really sure MLB draft rules seem so blurry at times...
Hey Derek,
I believe if the player doesn't sign he can go back to college.
I'm not quite sure what happens if you don't sign but still want to go pro. Let me go find out.
Here you go... from MLB.com:
A Club generally retains the rights to sign a selected player until 11:59 PM (EDT) August 15, or until the player enters, or returns to, a four-year college on a full-time basis. A player who is drafted and does not sign with the Club that selected him may be drafted again at a future year's Draft, so long as the player is eligible for that year's Draft. A Club may not select a player again in a subsequent year, unless the player has consented to the re-selection.
.....
I'm not sure if there is anything more to it. There may be some loophole that allows you to declare yourself a free agent or something, but again, I'm not quite sure.

Does anyone have a list of what players they haven't signed yet? It seems to me like they have signed a majority of their top 20 picks, but I could be wrong. If they have though, their doing a fantastic job restocking the system after last years trouble.
This thread on the Yankees Pride forums has all the signings http://www.yp-forums.net/index.php?showtopic=16268&st=0
Too bad teams can't trade draft picks like in any other sport.
