(Triple-A) Scranton/Wilkes-Barre lost to Durham 4-1 in game 2 of the Governor's Cup finals (Durham leads 2-0): Box Score - Recap
The SWB Yanks lost game 2 of the Governor's Cup Finals to the Durham Bulls (Rays) by a score of 4-1. The Bulls hold a 2-0 lead in the best of 5 series. The series moves to SWB Thursday for the final 3 games, if needed.
PITCHING: Ian Kennedy made his first AAA appearance since April when he had surgery. Kennedy pitched 2 scoreless innings the other night for Tampa in the Class A playoffs in his first rehab start. He was on a 50-pitch limit in this game and was outstanding throwing 3 perfect innings while picking up 6 strikeouts. Kennedy struck out the side in the 1st. He picked up 2 more K's in the 2nd along with a flyout to right. In the 3rd, 1 more K, a flyout, and groundout. 43 pitches--28 strikes. Kennedy's line: 3.0 IP, 0 runs, 0 hits, 6 K---0 walks
Kei Igawa, who has really struggled the 2nd half of the year, made his 1st relief appearance of the year when came on to pitch the 4th He immediately gave up a run to tie the game at 1 on a single and RBI double. Igawa threw a scoreless 5th with 2 K's and a walk. Durham took a 2-1 lead in the 7th off Igawa on a solo homer. Igawa bounced back with a perfect 7th. He gave up a leadoff single to start the 8th and was relieved. He took the loss, his 2nd in the playoffs.
4.0 IP, 2 runs, 5 hits, 5 K--1 walk
Amaury Sanit relieved Igawa with a man on 1st and nobody out in the 8th. A sac bunt, rbi double, intentional walk, and rbi single gave Durham 2 runs to make the final score 4-1.
OFFENSE: Mitch Talbot got the start for the Bulls (4-4, 4.47). Talbot picked up a loss in the 1st round vs Louisville. He did not face SWB during the regular season.
The Yankees broke out to a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning. Colin Curtis singled, Eric Duncan reached on an error. Curtis scored on a Doug Bernier RBI single. A fabulous doubleplay started by Elliott Johnson on a ball hit by Chris Stewart, robbed the Yanks of another run. They threatened in the 3rd when Austin Jackson had a 2-out double but was stranded. In the 4th, Talbot walked John Rodriguez and Eric Duncan before being relieved by Joe Bateman. Bateman got a doubleplay to get out of the inning when the ump ruled Duncan interferred on the play. Rodriguez had a 2-out single in the 6th, but was stranded.
Reegie Corona had a 1-out single in the 8th, but was doubled off when Jackson hit a line drive. Rodriguez had a 1-out single in the 9th. He moved up to 2nd base on a wild pitch, but was stranded as the Yanks lost for the 2nd night in a row 4-1.

Kennedy was awesome that is great to see. He will be the 6th starter next year.
Scranton just have too many important playre lost to win it all. No Shelly Duncan, no Claggett, no Josh Towers & no Dunn. I feel bad for those players down there trying to win the championship.
Let's give a hand to the SI Yanks for taking the division from behind and winning it all!
Although I would have loved a "Subway Series" of sorts take place.
