================

We are lucky enough to have a SWB report from BigGuy tonight.
He won't be doing these all the time by when he does I will
post them. Thanks BG for the great contributions.

(Triple-A) Scranton/Wilkes-Barre beat Gwinnett 3-0 in game 1 of their five-game series (SWB leads series 1-0): Box Score - Recap

The SWB Yanks, winners of the International League North Division traveled to Gwinnett, Ga to take on wild-card Gwinnett (Braves) in round 1 of the playoffs. After a 12 minute rain delay at the start of the game, the Yanks shutout the Braves 3-0 to take game 1 of the 5 game series.

PITCHING: Romulo Sanchez
(6-5, 4.09) got the start for the Yankees. He was converted from the bullpen the 2nd half of the year when they were short on pitchers and made 13 starts. Sanchez made 2 relief appearances earlier in the year against Gwinnett.

Sanchez got off to a great start, striking out the first 5 batters he faced with his fastball topping outt at 98 and showing a good change up. He then allowed a single and 2 walks to load the bases with 2 outs, but he settled down and got his 6th K to get out of the 2nd. In the 3rd, he got into a jam again with a 1-out double and walk, but got 2 more K's to get out of the jam. That gave him 8 strikeouts in the first 3 innings.

In the 4th, he got himself into another jam with a leadoff single and walk before retiring the next 3 batters, one on his 9th strikeout. Another scoreless inning in the 5th, but not before allowing 2 singles and stolen base. Sanchez left the game after the 5th inning with a 3-0 lead and got the win. Sanchez' line: 5.0 IP, 0 runs, 5 hits, 9 K--3 walks, 96 pitches---54 strikes, 2 groundouts---4 flyouts.

Zach Kroenke
, the SWB Pitcher of the Year, came on to pitch scoreless 6th and 7th innings. 2.0 IP, 0 runs, 0 hits, 1 K---2 walks.

Anthony Claggett
came on to pitch scoreless 8th and 9th innings to pick up the save. 2.0 IP, 0 runs, 1 hit, 1 K--0 walks.

OFFENSE:
Gwinnett started veteran John Halama (4-7, 4.48). The Yanks got to Halama in the 2nd inning. Juan Miranda had a leadoff walk followed by a single by Cody Ransom. John Rodriguez added a sac bunt, with Colin Curtis picking up 2-run on a single. Chris Stewart added a RBI single to give SWB a 3-0 lead. In the 5th, the Yanks wasted a double by Freddy Guzman. SWB threatened again in the 6th when after 2 outs Rodriguez and Curtis singled, but were stranded. Austin Jackson led off the 8th with a single and stolen base, but once again the Yanks failed to score. Somewhere in the Yankees Universe Kei Igawa matters, just happens to be at triple-a, what a horrible move that was, like fattoad i-rob-u all over again.
