News & Notes

- The Yanks are 40-15 since the All-Star break. They've also won 53 of their last 73, and at 91-52 they have the best record in all of baseball. They currently lead Boston by 7.5 games in the AL East. They also lead the Angels by 5 games for the best record in baseball. Their magic number to clinch the AL East is 14.

- At 49-22 the Yankees are tied with Boston for the best home record in baseball.

- CC Sabathia is 8-1, with a 2.45 in 13 career starts against Baltimore. In 4 starts this year he's 3-1, with a 2.63 ERA.

The big lefty is 6-0, with a 2.31 ERA in his last 8 starts, and has just a 1.75 ERA over his last 7 starts.

- In 11 games (10 starts) against the Yankees, Jeremy Guthrie is 3-5, with a 4.50 ERA. In the Bronx he's 1-1, with a 5.40 ERA in 4 games. And this year he's made four starts against them and is 1-3, with a 4.68 ERA.

- Mariano Rivera has converted 39-of-40 save opportunities this season. He's also converted 34 straight saves which is the longest such streak in the Majors, and the longest of Mo's hall of fame career. He's allowed just one run over his last 31 innings pitched.

- The Yankees a 12-5 against the Orioles this season. After winning ten straight, they've dropped two in a row to the pathetic O's.

- I'm going to be heading to the Giants season opener today at Giants Stadium, so the only Yankee baseball I will be getting is John Sterling while tailgating. Enjoy both games. Go Yankees! Go Giants!

Finally...Joe G has seen the light and put out our strongest lineup. No excuses today. Go Yanks!

the o's can hit.

Leadoff double wasted in bottom of the third with our big hitters up. Not good.

Damon you dumbass. Can't you count? This team is in a major funk at the moment and, in my opinion, it all stems from Girardi messing around with the lineup. As I said yesterday, it's not easy to pick up speed again when you've ground to a halt.

This team is 100% un-prepared. This team will NOT win in the playoffs. No way.

And, Posada can't even catch that attempt at home when its right to him. Fuggataboutit! You girls keep thinking positive. Go ahead.

That was pathetic. Jeter, why the f are you bunting with 2 on and 0 out? Then Tex and A-Rod strike out with the bases juiced. When we're hot, the game is right over there and then. This whole series is really pissing me off. (Can you tell? Lol)

Way to help your team A-Rod. Fail to swing at a ball that was too close to take and then get tossed from the game. Okay, so maybe it was just a ball, but I don't think you can blame the umpire for calling that one a strike.

Finally someone comes up with a clutch hit. Go Matsui! Am I the only one on this site today?

ENJOY THE GAME CAPTAIN!

What a weird game. We're 13-3 up in the 8th, yet it was a nailbiter! How many runners have we left on base? Must be around 20. Hope you enjoyed it Greg.

I know. It is a weird game. Hopefully the Giants win.

Way to pick up 3 yards Giants!

It's not time for football yet. Wait until Week 6. This is still time for baseball to be exciting.

What's happened to those Rays? 0-7 against the Yanks and Sox. Talk about throwing the towel in. Pathetic.
