Yankee Bowl Coming to the Bronx?

Pete Thamel of the NY Times is reporting that the chances of Yankee Stadium getting a college bowl game in 2010 are getting better. The game would likely be played between the Big East's third or fourth place team, and the Big 12's seventh place finisher.
Nick Carparelli Jr., the Big East’s associate commissioner for football, said in a telephone interview on Monday that talks for the Yankee Bowl have been progressing. The bowl would be an annual game most likely played between Christmas and New Year’s that would allow traveling fans to experience New York during that time of year.

...

“We’ve been in discussion with the Yankee organization for the past couple of months about the possibility of having a bowl game at Yankee Stadium,” Carparelli said. “For us, the concept of having a home bowl in the center of our geography is something that we’ve never had before.”

Bob Burda, the Big 12 spokesman, said he expected the league to sign an agreement with the Yankee Bowl. All that remains is approval from their board.

“It’s our intent to sign an agreement with them,” he said.

...

“Obviously, New York is the media capital of the world,” Carparelli said. “And there’s already a large Big East presence in New York with our basketball tournament. We feel this would be an opportunity to further brand the Big East in New York City.”
This would be pretty cool, I hope it happens.

Are there any bowl games played in cold weather cities?

last year's game would have been:

west virginia vs kansas

kinda cool...big east can produce some stinkers though.

As long as a notre dame/army/rutgers also host a game yearly, that would be cool.

Bootleg, I think there should be a playoff, but that's just me.

Anon, not that I know of, but I'm hardly knowledgeable about College Football.

Matt, Agreed.
