Yanks to Open and Close 2010 in Boston

From Ronald Blum:
The Yankees will open and close the 2010 season against the Red Sox at Fenway Park, just the fifth time in 50 years the rivals both start and finish against each other.

Most openers are set for April 5, Major League Baseball said Tuesday, but it seems likely ESPN will shift the Yankees and Red Sox for the Sunday night game April 4. In the past 50 years, the Yankees also opened and closed against Boston in 1960, 1970, 1992 and 2005, according to STATS LLC. The only times they both started and finished in Boston were 1938 and 1950.
Ending there should make for an interesting series, but having the Yankees open up in Boston takes away any real significance those games might have had if they were played at a later date. I've never been a fan of opening the season against Boston - didn't like it in 2005 - in fact I don't really like any kind of April Yankees-Sox games, especially since Boston always seems to play better in April than the Yankees.

It was also announced that the Yankees and Dodgers will play three games in Los Angeles from June 25th-27th.

Why the f are they announcing the schedule now? Why the f do we have to open and close the season at that craphole? (Surely it would be fairer to have one series away and one at home?) Why the f do we have two West Coast trips within six days of each other. Oh yes, of course, we're the New York Yankees and people like to f us about. This schedule sucks.

No idea. That would have been much better.
