News & Notes

- At 103-59 the Yankees had the best record in all of baseball. And at 57-24 they had the best home record in the majors.

- The Yankees and Angels split the season series winning five games each. The Yankees were 3-1 against the Angels this year at Yankee Stadium.

- In six career starts against the Angles, A.J. Burnett is 2-2, with a 4.43 ERA. In two starts against them this year he went 1-0, with a 4.26 ERA. In 12.2 innings he allowed 6 earned runs on 15 hits, walked 4, and struck out 16.

He's only made one postseason start, and that came last week against the Twins. In that game he allowed 1 earned run on 3 hits, walked 5, and struck out 6 in 6 innings pitched.

- Joe Saunders has made five starts against the Yankees in his career, and is 2-1, with a 6.28 ERA. Only one of those starts came in the Bronx and in that game Saunders allowed 2 earned runs on 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4 in a win. In two starts against the Yanks this year Saunders went 1-0, with a 4.72 ERA. In 13.1 innings he allowed 7 earned runs on 16 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3.

Like Burnett, Saunders has only made one postseason start. That came last year against the Red Sox and in 4.2 innings he allowed 4 earned runs on 5 hits, walked 4, and struck out 2 in a no decision.

- Tino Martinez will throw out tonight's ceremonial first pitch.

- I will be in the Bronx tonight for the game. Hopefully the rain holds off and the Yanks can take a 2-0 lead with them to LA. I'll try something new tonight and just throw up an open chat room. I will not be posting so if anyone comments under my name IT'S NOT ME.
