"Big Game Andy" Not So Big In Game 6's

Sure, he's tied for the all-time lead in postseason wins, it's worth noting that he also leads in games started, and he's also third all-time in losses with 9. His 3.90 ERA also isn't too impressive. Am I saying that his postseason record is overrated and the idea that he's a great big game pitcher is a farce? Yes, for the most part I am. Sorry, but for all those great games like game 5 of the 1996 World Series, there are just as many bad games like game 6 of the 2001 World Series.

As Peter Abraham pointed out in the comments section over on River Ave. Blues, Pettitte is just 4-2, with a 4.14 ERA in potential clinchers with the Yanks and Astros, while his teams are just 6-4.

And as Steve Lombardi points out this morning Pettitte is 0-for-3 in game six's. In three game six performances Pettitte is 0-2, with a 7.07 ERA and his team is 0-3. If you're wondering if this worries me heading into game six, the answer to that is yes. Sure, Andy could certainly go out and pitch a gem tonight, and I hope he does, but he might be just as likely to pitch the Yankees into a game 7 too.

Now I know there are many of you who disagree, so please tell me why.
