Check out this replay of Nick Punto's base running blunder in last night's game. At first you hear the TV call, then WCBS, and then the Twins' broadcasters. Listen closely to the TV call; just as the umpire calls Punto out you hear what sounds like someone slamming a pen against a counter or desk in the broadcast booth. Maybe Chip Carey or Ron Darling were upset because they wanted the Twins to win so the series to last longer on and they'd still have work to do, or maybe they just hate the Yankees. Either way, who do you think it was, Carey or Darling?
Later, in the clip, you hear what sounds like someone slamming their hands on a counter in the Twins' radio booth's call of the play. While it's funny to hear, I don't find anything wrong with that. It was probably Dan Gladden, who was a Twins, so it's understandable. If you remember he's the guy who said "Awww he got him, he got him John, he got him" in the background after A-Rod's two-run homer Friday night. You can hear that here.
