A dozen or so Japanese media members gathered around Tony Reagins as the Angels general manager checked into the winter meetings hotel Monday afternoon, ready to pounce with their questions about free-agent slugger Hideki Matsui.Honestly, I don't see this happening.
Reagins didn't disappoint.
"He's a person we've talked about," Reagins said of Matsui, who earned World Series most-valuable-player honors by hitting .615 with three home runs and eight runs batted in to help the New York Yankees defeat the Philadelphia Phillies in six games. "But we have a lot of scenarios we can attack, whether through trade or free agency."
And with the Granderson deal being close to complete I think the Yankees should seriously consider bringing back Matsui if they aren't already. With Granderson in center, Melky in the left, and Swisher in right, there is no need to re-sign Damon, but the Yanks will still need a DH.
Now, if they do resign Damon then he could DH split time between DH and LF. With the acquisition of Granderson who would you rather see the Yanks re-sign, Damon or Matsui?
