Cameron is not as great defensively as in his prime, but still is very good. He has played in New York previously and is an excellent clubhouse presence with pre-existing strong relationships with CC Sabathia and Alex Rodriguez. He remains a lefty killer (.420 OBP/.534 SLG), and the Yanks could keep Cabrera or Gardner as a lefty-swinging caddy against tough righties such as Felix Hernandez or Roy Halladay.Winn is a terrific corner defender. A switch-hitter, Winn is now dreadful from the right side, but effective as a lefty, albeit with little power. Nady, if healthy, could provide the righty counter-balance with his right-center power a Yankee Stadium asset....
Free agent Rick Ankiel is a strong corner defender who might be able to recapture his lefty power at Yankee Stadium. Mark DeRosa now projects best as a corner outfielder, but with many suitors likely is to get at least a two-year contract. Two players the Yanks might consider in trades are Juan Rivera and David DeJesus.
None of those names really peak my interest. Rivera is a solid hitter and had a very good season defensively, but what would he cost? I don't think the Angels are looking to help the Yanks too much right now.
