Hairston Says Yanks Waiting For Damon's Price To Go Down

From Jim Bowden via Twitter:
Jerry Hairston"Brian Cashmans going to get mad at me, but Yanks didn't make me offer because he's waiting on Damon price to come down" on XM
As usual, Cashman was quick to shoot down the report:
Brian Cashman says it's "right" that he never made an offer to J. Hairston Jr., but "not right" that he is waiting for Damon's price to drop
I don't think Hairston is completely making this up, though maybe Cashman doesn't want Damon to think the Yankees are still interested in hopes he'd become more desperate and his price will fall even more.

It's suspected that the Yankees are only willing to sign Damon for one-year at $2 million. As of now I don't think there is any other team willing to sign him at all, so that could end up being the best offer he sees.
