No Market For Damon, But Return To NY Still Unlikely

From Andrew Marchand:
Jonny Damon is likely going to wish he had taken the Yankees two-year, $14 million deal, because the market has dried up on him. Baseball executives say they think Damon is this year's Bobby Abreu. Abreu had to accept a one-year deal last offseason, but played well enough to earn a two-year deal this winter.

The Yankees have no plans on taking Damon back even if he comes crawling back. He would have to take a million or two and that is impossible to imagine. The Yankees feel they have already spent the money they were going to give to Damon so Damon's days are over in the Bronx.
I guess the Yankees don't think he's necessary for them to win next year, and while that might be true he would make their lineup a lot better. Reports last month said that the Yankees had about $5 or $6 million left for next year's roster, why not see if Damon will take a one-year deal worth $6 million or a two-year deal worth $10 million?

As of now the only team we've heard linked to him are the Braves, who supposedly can afford to pay him around $7-8 million a year for two years. But if that deal was on the table I think Damon would have jumped at it already.
