Keith Law's 2011 Minor League Sleepers

After posting his top 100 prospects for the 2010 season ESPN's Keith Law takes at the top sleepers for the 2011 season (hat-tip to TYU), and picks "one player from each organization who might move up into the top 100 next offseason." He continues, saying "the emphasis is on guys who might jump into the middle or even the top part of the rankings, the way Neftali Feliz and Madison Bumgarner did, as opposed to players who might just slide into the 90s." For the Yankees he picked RHP Jose Ramirez.

Right-hander Jose Ramirez is long and loose with room to fill out, but can already run his fastball up to 95-96, locate it to his glove side and turn over a changeup. His main drawback is the lack of an average breaking ball.

In 11 games (10 starts) for the Gulf Coast League Yankees Ramirez went 6-0, with a 1.48 ERA. In 61 innings he allowed 10 earned runs on 33 hits, walked 16 and struck out 53. Batters hit just .159 against him. He also pitched one game for the Tampa Yankees and allowed just one hit and struck out two in 3 innings of work.
