Hey guys, Yankeeboy here. I know I haven't posted in a while, but I've been busy with other things. Anyway, as pitchers and catchers pack their bags, I thought I'd give my take on who should be the 5th starter - Joba Chamberlain, or Phil Hughes.
Now, I'm a fan of both pitchers, don't get me wrong. Joba and Hughes both have ace-type stuff, they just haven't quite got it right yet in the rotation. Both of them have excelled in the bullpen though, and to me, with CC, A.J., Andy and Javy manning the front of the staff, whoever they pick for the 5 slot probably won't be the deciding factor of the Yankees' quest for a 28th title.
So honestly, I'm undecided right now. Joba has more experience in the rotation, but has such a different mentality when coming out of the pen and is much more effective there. Hughes is a dominant reliever, but has shown flashes of brilliance as a starter. Remember, Phil was supposed to be the next Yankees' ace before they signed CC Sabathia. And Joba is considered to be Mariano Rivera's replacement.
