Down in Tampa, the Yankees defeated the Rays tonight by the score of 6-4 behind the efforts of Javy Vazquez, Derek Jeter, and Colin Curtis. Vazquez got the start for the Yankees and pitched well over three innings, throwing 38 of his 60 pitches for strikes. He allowed just one run on two hits, walked two, and struck out three. The lone run came in on a Carlos Pena solo homer in the second, and gave the Rays a 1-0 lead.

Jeter gave the Yankees the lead with a two-run double in the bottom half of the inning. He would later add a single and finish off his night going 2-for-3.

Tampa regained the lead with two runs off Romulo Sanchez in the top of the fourth. The score would remain the same until the bottom of the sixth when Colin Curtis gave the Yankees the lead for good with a three-run homer, his second three-run shot of the spring. Curtis is now hitting .500/.615/1.200 over nine spring training games.

After Sanchez, the rest of the Yankees pen did well, especially Chan Ho Park and David Robertson. Park had a very good spring debut, retiring all three batters he faced, one on a strikeout, and seven of his eight pitches were strikes. David Robertson followed with a perfect inning, and struck out two. Boone Logan also had a good night, striking out the only batter he faced, left-hander Carl Crawford.

P.J. Pilittere drove in the Yankee sixth run with an RBI in the seventh. Ramiro Pena also had a nice game, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

If you watched the game and noticed that Jeter banged up his hand a little diving for a ball, don't worry, Joe Girardi said he will be in the lineup tomorrow.
