Yanks Make It A Split Squad Split

With the Yankees playing two split squad games today, a 5-3 win over the Orioles and a 6-2 loss to the Tigers, I'll just go with some bullet points of today's more significant performances.

  • Javy Vazquez allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2 on his way to his first win of the spring.
  • Alfredo Aceves continues his fantastic spring, allowing just a run on 3 hits in 4 innings pitched. In 10 innings this spring, Aceves has allowed a run on 3 hits, struck out 5 and has not walked a batter.
  • David Robertson allowed just one hit and struck out the side in one scoreless inning and picked up his first save of the spring.
  • Nick Johnson went 2-for-3, with a double and an RBI.
  • Jorge Posada picked up three hits and two RBIs to raise his spring batting average to .375.
  • Robinson Cano went 2-for-4 with an RBI and is now hitting .563 this spring.
