4/29 Minor League Report

(Triple-A) Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (12-8) beat Louisville (7-14) 3-2: Box Score -Recap

PITCHING: Zach McAllister got the start for the Yankees. McAllister worked out of a jams thru the first 4 innings. Wladimier Balentiene led off the 5th with a solo homer to cut the Yanks lead to 2-1 at the time. He left the game with a 2-1 lead, but was not involved in the decision. 96 pitches--66 strikes, 2 groundouts - 9 flyouts. McAllister’s line: 6.0 IP, 1 run, 6 hits, 6 K’s--2 walks, ERA 6.64

Amaury Sanit came on to pitch the 7th. He gave up a leadoff double and rbi single to give the Bats 1 run to tie the score at 2. Sanit pitched a scoreless 8th and was charged with a blown save.

Mark Melancon threw a scoreless 9th inning, allowing a single, to pick up the win (3-0).

OFFENSE: Justin Lehr started for Louisville. The Yanks got to Lehr in the 1st inning for a 1-0 lead when Kevin Russo doubled, and Greg Golson added a rbi single. In the 2nd, Chad Huffman walked, Chad Moeller singled, Reegie Corona had a sac bunt, and Russo added a rbi single for a run to up the SWB lead to 2-0. With the score tied at 2 in the bottom of the 9th, Chad Huffman became the hero with a walk-off homer (3), to give SWB a 3-2 win.

MONTERO WATCH: Jesus Montero went 1-4 with a line drive single, as the DH in this game. He’s currently batting .246.

NOTES: Colin Curtis put on the DL with an ankle injury he suffered sliding into 2nd base Wednesday night. Mark Cusick was added to the roster. Eduardo Nunez leads the league with 29 hits. Nunez is off to a great start hitting .377, he also has 8 stolen bases.
