News & Notes

- This update on Chan Ho Park's hamstring injury comes from Chad Jennings:

Chan Ho Park’s hamstring injury is still bothering him, and the Yankees no longer believe he’ll be ready to come off the disabled list when his 15 days are over.

“He says it’s still somewhat tight,” manager Joe Girardi said. “It’s not sore or painful, it’s just somewhat tight, and if you push him too much while it’s tight you might re-injure it.”

Park will try to do long toss on Sunday, then he will go to the Yankees complex in Tampa on Monday. He’ll try to do long toss again on Monday and hopes to pitch off flat ground on Tuesday. “Then we’ll see where we’re at,” Girardi said.

Jennings also said that it's likely that Park with throw in at least one rehab game with Single-A Tampa.

- The Yankees, as you might expect, are defending Alex Rodiguez's little job across the mound yesterday. Here are the quotes, once again via Chad Jennings:
“I have no problem with what Alex did,” Girardi said. CC Sabathia said it wouldn’t bother him if a player ran across the mound, and Mark Teixeira said he’s never heard of such an unwritten rule. “Once we heard his comments, we’ve been laughing about it ever since,” Teixeira said.
Here's a quote from Jeter via Marc Carig:
Jeter doesn't get Braden being all protective of the mound: "It ain't like he brought it from home.
And another, this time from Pete Caldera:
“It never crossed my mind,” Derek Jeter said. “I’ve never heard that before. If you asked me that question yesterday before the game, it’s one of those things I’d never think of.”
- In six career starts against the Angels, A.J. Burnett is 2-2 with a 4.43 ERA. In two starts against the Halos last year he went 1-0, with a 4.26 ERA. And in four starts in Anaheim, he's 1-2, with a 4.23 ERA.

- Ervin Santana has faced the Yankees 8 times in his career and is 5-3, with a 5.50 ERA. He lost to the Yanks in their home opener earlier this month when he allowed 5 runs on 8 hits and 5 walks in 5.2 innings pitched.

- In his last 11 games, Alex Rodriguez is hitting .400/.553/.714 with 2 HR, 3 doubles, and 11 RBI.

- Checking in with an old friend: Hideki Matsui is hitting .302/.380/.587 with 4 HR and 11 RBI so far this year with the Angels.
