Chad Jennings is reporting that Jorge Posada is going to be out 3-4 weeks with a hair line fracture in his right foot. Joe Girardi and Brian Cashman do not know what they are going to do at the catcher position yet.
Posada sounded much more optimistic than his manager and GM: “It’s not going to take that long,” Posada said. “They can say whatever they want to say. I’ll be here before that.”
I hope so, but the last thing the Yankees need is for Posada to rush back and make the injury worse. Get better, then get back into the lineup.
Updates will come as more information becomes available.
Jesus Montero anyone? He has been slumping a bit, but has been hitting better of late. A call up may boost his confidence and he'd also have the opportunity to start working with Kevin Long. However, a move would have to be made to create a spot on the roster. Although that should be the case for any catcher the Yankees bring up.
