According to Donnie Collins, the Yankees have called up right-handed pitcher Ivan Nova from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. This move was made for some much needed pitching depth. With Sergio Mitre limited to 65-70 pitches tonight, Javier Vazquez going tomorrow, and Romulo Sanchez unavailable tonight after throwing 52 pitches yesterday, this makes a lot of sense. No word on any corresponding moves, but it's probably Sanchez who will be headed back to Scranton. In six starts for the SWB Yanks, Nova was 2-0, with a 2.43 ERA. In 37 innings pitched he's allowed 10 ER on 35 hits, walked 12, and struck out 32.
