Sergio Mitre Headed To The DL

Here's an injury that comes out of nowhere. According to Dave Hutchinson, Sergio Mitre injured his oblique muscle while "putting a Babe Ruth-type batting practice display on Sunday," and has been placed on the DL.

"Unfortunately, Sergio tweaked his side a little bit doing batting practice and when he got up (Monday morning) it felt worst,'' said manager Joe Girardi. "The doctors felt it would be more than a couple of days. Obliques are funny. That's what (AL) managers don't like about interleague play."

Damn you interleague!

Boone Logan has been called up to replace him on the roster.
