“Yesterday,” Montero said with a shake of his head and a smile, “I woke up and somebody was like, you’re getting traded. I was…What?”You've got to love that this kid is so dedicated to this team and this organization above all else.
...
I asked Montero a question and got an interesting answer. He has said in the past that he does not want to be traded, but a trade may ultimately get him where he wants to ultimately be — in the big leagues. I asked him if that made a day like yesterday bittersweet, and this is what he had to say:
“True, I can be in the big leagues. But all my dreams are with this team. Whatever they do, I’m going to have to live with it. But I want to stay here. I love the Yankees.”
The irony in all of this is that one day it's very likely that Lee will be throwing the ball as a Yankee to Montero behind the plate.
