Dickerson is an athletic outfielder with a decent .257/.356/.403 career batting line and very good speed. He will help ease the pain of Curtis Granderson's sudden oblique injury, either as a member of the season-opening big league roster or from afar at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
This likely means that the Yanks are going with either Color or Garcia as their long reliever to start the year.
