Yanks' News & Notes From Ken Rosenthal

Ken Rosenthal has a new article posted on Fox Sports (hat tip to Scott Proctor's Arm), here's what he had to say regarding our Yankees...

- Xavier Nady and Nick Swisher are drawing "significant interest" from teams around the league. He also says the Yanks are in no rush to trade either of them, but a deal will likely be made. He thinks the Giants, Braves and Pirates may be interested.

Unless they can get something significant if return I still think the Yankees should hold on to both. Injuries happen and both players might end up playing key roles on this team.

- The Yankees were in discussion with Brian Fuentes prior to his signing with the LA Angels. No offer was made, but they wanted him to be Mariano's setup man. Rosenthal also says the Yankees didn't want to pay a setup man closer's money.
"We had some serious talks," said Fuentes' lead agent, Rick Thurman. "It didn't end up happening. At the end of the day Brian's preference was to close. And when push came to shove, he wanted to be on the west coast, close to home."
It's not related to this article, but there is also a report on MLB Trade Rumors that says the Cleveland Indians are in "serious talks" with Carl Pavano.

Somehow package them for Justin Upton...

Good luck with that. I'd love for them to get him, but I can't see the DBacks letting him go for anything.

After this off-season I agree. He's certainly brought in everything they needed so far.
