Video Tour of the New Stadium... And Some Links

This video tour of the New Yankee Stadium comes from NJ.com:

- Here's some more on the new stadium, a new slideshow from Newsday. Some sample pictures are posted below:

- Then there is this; apparently the new stadium will not only be home to rabid Yankees fans, but also to Iron Chefs as well (picture below):

... those who settle into the 4,000 or so well-upholstered seats of the various club and suite areas, which can cost as much as $2,500, will have access to much more.

A number of restaurants and dining areas will be for their exclusive enjoyment. In the Legends Suite Club, food will be prepared at open cooking stations run, from time to time, by Masaharu Morimoto of “Iron Chef” fame, April Bloomfield of the Spotted Pig, chefs from Le Cirque and cooks from Elaine’s (because Elaine Kaufman is a big Yankees fan).

Some of the chefs will be at the stadium for one evening and others may make multiple appearances.

- Jeter is happy to be back:

"I’ve had enough days off, you know?" Jeter said, having re-entered the Yankees’ universe on Tuesday afternoon, following his World Baseball Classic experience.

...

"I’m excited to get back and get into a routine of playing every day," Jeter said before the game. "We had a lot of off-days in this tournament. We had two or three days in between games sometimes.

"There’s a reason you play every single day, so I’ve got this last week to 10 days to get into a routine."

- Peter Abraham wrote this post about Austin Jackson after his big game in last night's victory over the Red Sox. There are a few nice quotes from A-Jax. It's definitely worth checking out.

- Marc Hulet over at Fangraphs takes a look at the Yankees farm system.

- The new YESNetwork.com has this Q&A with manager Joe Girardi.

- Lisa Swan over at Subway Squawkers is having a contest over on her blog. Here's more on the contest from Lisa:
What is a HAVA? It's a device that plugs into your cable box and allows you to watch your TV programming on a laptop or a mobile phone. If you can't be home to see the big game, you can watch it elsewhere if you have a HAVA. You can read more about the device here and here.

The product retails for $99, but one lucky Squawkers reader will get to have a HAVA in their home for free. Here's how:

Tell us, in an email to subwaysquawkers@gmail.com, which Major League Baseball clip you never get tired of seeing, and why you love that clip. Is it Aaron Boone's homer? Or the slow roller to Buckner? Or even (shudder), the Red Sox beating the Yanks?

Please include your name, address, and phone number in the email, and put the word HAVA in the subject line. The deadline for contest entries will be 5 p.m. on Friday, March 27.
- And if you missed it here last night, the Yankees brass spoke to A-Rod about his off field antics, the grounds crew have added the interlocking NY to the new stadium's field, and they also sold 170,000 tickets yesterday.

Iron chefs well NY'ers got to eat. :)

have no particular opinion about the yankees, but, i am glad that derek jeter realizes he is not in game form yet. frankly he looked real sluggish during the WbC.

does he look over-weight too you?

Greg Cohen said...

I can't tell if he looks overweight. Possibly, he has played about 15 less games than he would have by now.

ok, I don't get to see him that much in the philly market, but all the games and st practice he has missed could be what I am seeing as "sluggish" and "stiff".

For the Yankees sake, I really hope that's the case, and he's not just slowing down because of age.
