Jackson hasn't been that good in Trenton, in 14 IP he's got a 4.50 ERA, allowing 8 ER or 14 H, while striking out 18 and walking 3. He really hasn't been that good at all throughout his minor league career. In 4 seasons he's 23-26 with a 4.35 ERA, and last year at Scranton was 4-8 with a 5.87 ERA.After tonight's Trenton Thunder game, the Yankees promoted reliever Steven Jackson to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Jackson should be with the team in time for tomorrow's game in Syracuse. Taking Jackson's spot in Double-A is J.B. Cox, continuing his return from Tommy John surgery.
You can certainly make a case that David Robertson should be the one coming to Triple-A, but it's hard to have a real problem with Jackson getting the nod. Jackson proved himself in Double-A back in 2006 and he was outstanding this spring. He's also walked just three guys in Trenton. The Yankees have some time to make decisions about Robertson, they need to find out what they have in Jackson and the only way to do that is to put him in games at this level. If you saw him this spring you would certainly want him up here.
Dave Robertson, on the other hand, has been lights out with an ERA 0.64 allowing just 1 runs on 7 hits in 14 IP, while walking 6 and striking out 21. And last season in 44 games for Charleston, Tampa, and Trenton, Robertson went 8-3 with a 0.96 ERA holding the opposition to a .154 batting average. He also struck out 113 batters in 84.1 IP, while only walking 32.
I don't know about you, but I'd have gone with Robertson.

I would have gone with Roberston too.
Jackson has never shown himself to be anything special.
I agree Gary, I don't really understand this move.
I thought Jackson came over in the RJ trade, so I don't think he's been in the Yankee system for 4 years...
As for the reasoning, it's pretty much as Chad said. Jackson threw well in ST and is much older. The yanks need to figure out if they have anything in him or not, and see what to do with him. Robertson will move up soon enough.
You're right, he was in the Arizona system. I fixed the post. Thanks Mike.
But I can tell the Yankees they have nothing in this guy, he's been bad everywhere he's pitched.
