Yankees - Indians
@ Yankee Stadium
(3 games)
@ Yankee Stadium
(3 games)
After splitting a four game series at Progressive Field a little over a week ago the Yankees and Indians face off again for a 3 game series at The Stadium. This will also be the final time these two teams will play each other this season unless they meet in October again.
Since taking the first two from the Yanks in that series the Indians have lost 5 of 7 and currently sit in fourth place in the Central Division with a record of 14-17, 2.5 games behind first place Minnesota.
The Yankees are coming off of three game sweep of the Seattle Mariners where they played their best baseball of the season so far. They top of the order is really starting to hit the ball, and they got good pitching from their starters and relievers. So far this year every time the Yankees win a few games in a row, they respond by losing a few in a row, hopefully they can avoid that this time around.
The Yankees' record is 17-16, and they're 3.5 games behind first place Boston in the AL East.

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Yankees: Derek Jeter: Just like last series in Cleveland Jeter is the player to watch in this series for the Yanks. Not only because of his great numbers vs Cleveland (In 101 games against the Tribe, he's hit .350 with 9 HR, 55 RBI and a .897 OPS.), but because he's been on a tear since May began. He's 9 for his last 18 (.500) with 2 doubles and 2 RBI.
Jeter vs. Carmona: .429 (3-for-7), 1 RBI, .929 OPS
Jeter vs. Lee: .471 (8-for-17), 4 RBI, 1.173 OPS
Jeter vs. Byrd: .367 (11-for-30), 3 RBI, .920 OPS
Indians: Jhonny Peralta: For his career he hasn't been great against the Yankees (in 29 games he's hitting .241 with 5 HR, 17 RBI, and an OPS of .762), or at Yankee Stadium (13 games, .255 with 2 HR, 7 RBI, and an .803 OPS), but as you will see he's done well against two of the three Yankees starters for this series.
