6/6 Minor League Report

We are lucky enough to have a SWB report from BigGuy tonight. He won't be doing these all the time by when he does I will post them. Thanks BG for the great contributions.

(AAA) Scranton/WB (38-25) lost to Norfolk 13-12: Box Score - Recap

PITCHING: Steven White got the spot start out of the bullpen. He pitched a scoreless 1st inning. In the 2nd he imploded giving up 5 runs to give Norfolk a 5-0 lead. White started the 3rd and was charged with 1 more run. He gave up 6 runs on 7 hits in 2.1 innings.

The relievers didn't do much better. Heath Phillips relieved White in the 3rd inning and gave up 5 runs in 2.1 innings on 8 hits. ... Scott Strickland had better luck pitching 2.1 innings from the 5th--7th giving up 1 run. ... JB Cox came in to pitch the 8th inning with the scored tied at 12. Cox gave up his 1st AAA run on 2 singles and a walk to make the score 13-12. Cox pitched a scoreless 9th inning allowing a double. Cox took the loss (1-1). His era is now at 0.73.

OFFENSE: SWB fought back from 5-0 and 10-4 deficits to tie the game at 12-12 after 6 innings. The Yanks got 2 runs in the 2nd on a Matt Carson 2-run homer to make the score 5-2 Norfolk. ... In the 3rd they picked up 2 more runs on RBI doubles by Jason Lane and Ben Broussard. ... SWB exploded for 5 runs in the 4th inning to make the score 10-9 Norfolk, on RBI by JD Closser, Bernie Castro, Alberto Gonzalez, Jason Lane, and Brett Gardner. ... They tied the score at 11-11 in the 5th with 2 runs on RBI by Bernie Castro and Alberto Gonzalez. ... The Yanks came back to tie the score in the 6th at 12-12 with 1 run on a Cody Ransom RBI. ... SWB had 12 runs, 14 hits, no errors.

NOTES: Dan Giese recalled to NY. ... Justin Christian placed on the DL. ... Kei Igawa gets the start Saturday against 2nd place Syracuse. ... Alan Horne makes his 1st start since coming off the DL on Sunday. ... SWB had 7 stolen bases to set a SWB franchise record. Brett Gardner, Bernie Castro, and Cody Ransom each had 2. Alberto Gonzalez had one.
