Ponson and Giese to Start Firday's Doubleheader

Joe Girardi made it official before last night's game against the Pirates, when he told the media that Dan Giese and Sidney Ponson will be starting this Friday's two stadium doubleheader. Giese will face Mike Pelfrey, and Ponson will face Pedro Martinez.

Do these pitching match ups worry you? They certainly worry me a bit, but the Yanks didn't have many other options.

The pitching for the series in totally in the mets favor but the Yanks should still be able to at least get a split. The Mets just lost two of three to the Mariners, and they had Santana going in that series. They don't scare me.

With the bums the Yanks are throwing out there this weekend they will be lucky if they win one game, let alone 2 or 3.

its seems like when ever we play the Mets the pitching matchups are not in our favor, we have injuries or we're not playing well. I want to win 3/4 at least to split the season series. I think we can win Sat, and Sunday against Santana and Perez, hoping that we at least take 1 on friday. We should hit all of them, if we bring our A game.

Yea I feel that way too.

"We should hit all of them, if we bring our A game."

That's the thing, we all know they can hit them, it's a matter of them stepping up and doing it.

I remember a double header against Cleveland back in 1996 where the Yanks started Brian Boehringer, and some dude named Mariano Rivera. All of the talk I heard was in regards to "getting swept in both"...and they turned around and won both.

(note - not comparing Ponson or Giese to Mo. At ALL.)
