A Baseball season is a crazy, isn't it? After yesterday afternoon's 15-6 loss at The Stadium I did not have a good feeling about this series, and I'm sure most Yankees fans felt the same way I did. Now, about 27 hours later, the Yankees have just won two in a row, and all is well again, at least for the moment.

The Yanks won 3-2 today, and got another very good performance from Andy Pettitte. In his last four starts he's 4-0 with an ERA of 1.00. . . Remember three weeks ago when he gave up ten runs to the Royals and he was done? . . . In 6 innings against the Mets today Pettitte allowed just 2 runs on 5 hits, walking 3 and striking out 4. He only made two mistakes, solo homers off the bats of Bernie Castro and David Wright.

Pettitte found himself in some trouble in the 5th when the Mets had runners on 1st and 2nd with two out and David Wright at the plate. Fortunately for the Yankees, Jose Reyes, who was on second base, strayed a little too far off the bag and Pettitte picked him off to end the inning. Where was Reyes going, and why was he that far off second with two on, one out, in a one run game, with David Wright at the plate? Beats me, but he was out, and the Yanks, and Pettitte, were out of the jam. Wright led off the next inning with a HR.

Kyle Farnsworth and Jose Veras were both effective for the second game in a row, shutting the Mets down in the 7th and 8th. And Mariano Rivera made quick work of Carlos Delgado, Fernando Tatis and Trot Nixon in the 9th. He's now 22 for 22 in save opportunities, and has an ERA of 0.74, while striking out 43 and walking just 3 in 36.1 IP. Wow.

METS PITCHING

Mets' starter Johan Santana was dominant for the first three innings, but the Yankees were able to get to him in the 4th when he lost the strike zone. He walked the first two batters in the inning, and then Alex Rodriguez singled to load the bases. The next batter was Jason Giambi and he hit a broken bat ground out to score the Yankees' first run and tie the game. The Yanks scored a second run on a sac fly by Jorge Posada.

The Yankees added their third run in the 6th inning on a Robinson Cano RBI single scoring Rodriguez who had previously walked and advanced to second on a balk.
