Tino To Damon: Shut Up and Play

From Andy Martino:
Tino Martinez has a message for Johnny Damon and any other Yankee who wants Joba Chamberlain in the bullpen: "Keep it to yourself.

"You shouldn't complain," Martinez told the Daily News Tuesday when asked about Damon last week questioning the team's decision to move Chamberlain to the starting rotation.

Martinez says he believes the young pitcher will help the team more as a starter, and that other Yankee players should focus on their own jobs. "The Yankees are doing what is best," said Martinez, who helped the Yankees win four World Series. "They think that's the best way for the team to win, (so) that's what the players have to accept. That's just the way it is. (Chamberlain) is obviously in a transition period now, but I'm sure once he gets his pitch count up there and he gets comfortable starting, he is going to be a very good starting pitcher."

Martinez added that the Yankees were in no position to maintain the status quo. "If the team was in first place, then you don't make any changes. But when a team is where they are - struggling - you have to try to make adjustments, change things up. You really can't think about where Joba is. You have to go out there and do your job. Get your hits and play your defense, and let the pitching take care of the pitching."
I agree with Tino here. If you have a problem with the way your team is doing things personnel-wise, either take it up with management, or keep it to yourself.

The one thing I will give Damon credit for is that's he been great on the field, and hasn't let any of this get effect his playing.

Mike to Tino: SHUT UP.

As long as Johnny is putting up the numbers that he is, he can say whatever the bleep he wants.
