Yanks Aggressively Shopping Hawkins

From Ken Rosenthal (hat tip to River Ave. Blues):

The Yankees are aggressively shopping right-hander LaTroy Hawkins, two rival executives say, intending to clear a spot for a reliever who currently is at Class AAA. Righty J.B. Cox, who missed all of last season after undergoing elbow-ligament transplant surgery, is one candidate; he began the season at Class A, but has since moved to AAA, where he has allowed one run in 12 1/3 innings. Righty David Robertson, who began the season at AA, also has been impressive at AAA. Hawkins, signed to a one-year, $3.75 million free-agent contract, has a 6.08 ERA in 22 appearances . . .
Well he's become completely useless in the pen, and for right now is just wasting a roster spot. He hasn't pitched since June 5th, and Girardi seems to have lost all faith in him. I could see him going somewhere in the NL, there was a rumor a few weeks ago that the Rockies might want him back.

Lies! No one will take him at 6mil a for the year. The Yanks will probably DFA him. Im super looking forward to seeing Cox or Robertson in the Pen.

Hughes for 8th inning role?? I like it.

On my blog I predicted he's be DFA in June.

Absolutely a DUMB signing.

Besides Cashman, who would want this scrub?

Anon,

He does make $3.75 per yr.

Mike,

I'd say that prediction is pretty accurate. I can't see him here much longer.
