Yanks Leave Door Open for Possible Reunion with Willie

From Mark Hale:
There's a chance Willie Randolph could end up getting a Yankee reunion.

Hal Steinbrenner said yesterday the Yanks could potentially bring back Randolph in some role in The Bronx, saying, "Anything's a possibility."

Randolph played for the Yankees from 1976-1988, served as assistant GM in 1993 and coached for them from 1994-2004. If they brought him back either permanently or temporarily - as a consultant, special assistant, coach for the All-Star Game at the Stadium, whatever - whatever money he earns would be subtracted from what the Mets.

Asked whether the Yankees have interest in Randolph, GM Brian Cashman opted not to say.

"In fairness to all people involved in this, he's a good man, he's a good baseball man, there's a lot of baseball left in that man," Cashman said. "But that's not something for us to talk about today."
By the way, the full quote from Hal was: "Willie's been a Yankee for a lot of years. He's a smart man. We need to let all the dust settle and see what happens, and we'll go from there. Anything's a possibility." (source)

I would like to see Willie come back to the Yanks in some capacity, whether it's as a coach, in the front office, or as manager (just kidding). He's always been a Yankee and he will always be a Yankee.

Would you like to see Willie return to the Bronx? If so, in what role?

I would love to see him back in an on-field role.

Hell yes, bring Willie back, he's a Yankee and always will be.

I would like him to replace Meacham as 3rd base coach, or Thomson as bench coach. I like Willie more than both of them. Or if they cant get him an on field job, put him in the front office.- He'll probably here for old timers day this year, that would be interesting.

Where Willie should go:
1) Yankees- we all want him, I think he would like to came back after some time off.
2) Phillies- he would really get back at the Mets and their dumbass fans.
3) Wait for another job opportunity to present itself.
4) Retire, ( unlikely)

I'd really like to see him back at third myself. Meacham has been pretty awful at 3rd, so it would certainly be an improvement.

Michael Kay just suggested that the YES network hire Randolph as an analyst, and to make sure they do it before next week's Subway Series. Pretty good idea.
