Pettitte Rips Yanks After Another Sorry Performance

From Mark Feinsand:
With the Yankees seemingly already in All-Star break mode during Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Blue Jays, Pettitte called out his team, and issued a challenge for the second half.

"If we want to make the playoffs, we have to be better," said Pettitte, who took the loss Sunday. "We stink right now for the most part. As a team, we've kind of stunk it up here lately, so we need to play better."

"We've got to find a way to put it all together for an extended period of time with our pitching and our hitting combined," Pettitte said. "It seems like right now, we're feast or famine."
That 3-run bomb he allowed to Marco Scutaro didn't help matters, but Pettitte is right, the team needs to play a lot better if they want to make the post season.

Luckily for them the Yanks are still very much in it due to some even worse play from the Rays to end the first half.

way to try and be a leader after giving up 8 hits and 4 runs to a lineup without Rios and Wells.

Yea, I sort of feel the same way regarding these comments.

Scutaro swung at a pitch that was low and inside and would have been called a ball, and sent it out for that 3 run jack. Andy made his pitch, Scutaro just got lucky. Andy worked out of jams all day long.

Andy, Rasner, Moose, Joba...all have been taking 2-4 run losses because the Yanks cant seem to muster up any kind of offense. Come on, your telling me that Pittsburgh starter last week, pitched better then Moose? Course not but the offense is struggling so bad that if one guy gets hurt or goes into a slump, the entire team suffers.

What Andy said was perfectly fine with me. Some of the other pitchers should say something as well.

Nobody is denying how poorly the offense is.
