Did you know that each time the All-Star games was held at Yankee Stadium the Yankees made the World Series? In 1939 they beat the Cincinnati Reds, in 1960 they lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates, and in 1977 they beat the L.A. Dodgers, but that's not really the interesting part. In each of these games the starter for the National League came from the Yankees future opponent in the World Series. In 1939 it was the Reds' Paul Derringer, in 1960 the Pirates' Vern Law, and in 1977 it was the Dodgers' Don Sutton who started the game.
With Ben Sheets being named starter of the NL today, it appears that this year's World Series will be between the Yankees vs. the Brewers.
Hey, I can dream, can't I?
