Bobby Murcer died today at the age of 62. This is a truly sad day for the Yankees and their fans. He was a great Yankee and an even better man. I grew up listening to Murcer call Yankees game on WPIX, and later on MSG and YES. I wish I had been able to see him play. RIP Bobby, you will be sorely missed, my thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Here is a very nice article about Bobby's passing from Bill Madden of the Daily News.

unbelievable, a sad day for the Yankees and for baseball.
I will miss him. I remember going to a game as a youth and being upset that the Yankees were losing. My parents reminded me a of Yogism, "It ain't over, till it's over."
Well, sure enough, Bobby Murcer came up in the bottom of the 9th of that game and hit a 2 run homer to win it.
I don't recall the date who or who they were playing, but that memory of Bobby Murcer will live on forever.
Rest In Peace Bobby. I was too young to see you as a player but as a yankee you touched us all.
Very, very sad. He was such a lovable guy. I, too, never saw him play, and I wouldn't know him as well as I do if it wasn't for all his old timer's day joking around and his fun-loving announcing.
RIP Bobby, and love and prayers to his family and friends.
