Pettitte to Start Stadium's Final Game

From MLB.com:

Pettitte will officially close the park by pitching in the final game on Sunday, Sept. 21, the Yankees confirmed Friday, in a rather appropriate nod to the recent past.

"It would seem fitting that next Sunday would probably be Andy's turn," manager Joe Girardi said.

Fitting because Pettitte has pitched more innings at Yankee Stadium than any active player, and fitting because Pettitte -- along with Derek Jeter, Mariano River and Jorge Posada -- has served as a face for the more recent Yankees teams.

"It's awesome," Pettitte said. "It's going to be extremely special for me, there's no doubt about it. It will be an emotional night for me, for sure."
This is the way it should be, but do us a favor Andy, win the damn game. With everything that has gone wrong this year, the least this team can do is win the final game at Yankee Stadium.
