Apparently Posada really said a lot during that "CenterStage" taping today. We've already heard about the Joba comments, and several others, and now I found this article (hat tip to Smackcaster.com) from the NY Times that say Posada said that Pedro Martinez showed no class during the brawl in the 2003 ALCS. He was particularly angry about Pedro pointed to his head, as if he was saying "I'll hit you in your head."Also in the article was Pedro's reaction:“It wasn’t precisely to tell him that I wanted to hit him in the head,” MartÃnez said after the Mets’ loss in Washington. “No, he’s a human being and he has a family and I’m a professional. What I meant from what he said because he cursed my mom was that I’ll remember that because he knows, he’s Latin, as much as he pretends to be American, he’s Latin — both sides. And he knows that cursing your mom in Latin America will get you into a fight, but it wasn’t to try to tell him — and I had done it the inning before to Varitek.”Expect some sort of response from Posada tomorrow, he's obviously is not afraid to say what's on his mind.

Wait a minute, Posada curses Pedro's mom and Pedro is the one with no class because he points at his head later? Huh? So the mom comments were done in good taste?
No, I didn't give my opinion at all. I'm just passing along what I read.
But yes, that's what Posada is saying. I didn't see the interview, but he may have also had a problem with Pedro throwing Zimmer to the ground too.
I understand Greg, I was speaking somewhat rhetorically (or at Jorge, if he stops by).
Long ago I officially put Pedro in my "dirtbag" category, but Jorge calling him classless after insulting his mom is classic pot and kettle.
The Zimmer thing was way over the line, but sure stoked the rivalry.
Yea, that fight made that series and the next season a lot of fun (at least until game 4 of the '04 ALCS).

Me neither Dan. That series was just painful to watch. The fact that the Yanks haven't even won a playoff series since then makes it a lot worse.
Pedro could have beat the crap out of Zim that night, but didn't. What are you supposed to do when some 200+ lbs man is charging straight at you? All he did was deflect Zim away from him. Zim was the one who was wrong. And why TF is Posada dragging this up 4 years later? Both Posada and Zim are wrong.
I think Posada mentioned it because Kay asked him about it. You know how Kay is.
