In his winter ball debut on Friday against Escogido he went 1-for-5 with a run scored. Last night against Licey he went 1-for-4 with 2 RBI, a walk, and a run scored.
Melky Cabrera also played on Friday for Agiuilas in the Dominican League, and went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Last night he went 0-for-4 with a run scored.
Ramiro Pena went 2-for-4 with a RBI for Culiacan, also in the Dominican League.
Justin Christian went 3-for-5 with a double, and HR, 3 RBI and a run scored for Mochis in the Mexican League.

Now here's Big Guy's Fall and Winter Ball week in review.
Phil Hughes had a very good Arizona Fall League. Hughes pitched a great game Wed. going 5 shutout innings, with only 2 singles. He had 10 K--0 walks. AFL Totals -- 7 Gms. 2-0, 3.00 ERA, 30 IP, 10 ER, 21 hits, BAA .198, 38 K's---13 BB
Juan Miranda had a very good fall league. He started off red hot but was slowed with a shoulder injury that cost him over a week of action. This week 3 games going 4-12 with 8 RBI and 2 HR. AFL Totals -- 19 Gms. .301 (22-73) 20 RBI, 14 runs, 23 K's--7 BB, 5 HR, OBP. .378
Kevin Russo had a great AFL that included a 20 game hit streak. He went 4-17 for the week with a home run and 5 RBI. Russo played 3rd, short, 2nd, leftfield and DH at the AFL. AFL Totals -- 30 Gms. .309 (34-110), 16 RBI, 16 runs, 23 K's--9 BB, 4 HR, OBP .377.
Austin Jackson did not impress at the AFL. This week he went 1-11. AFL Totals -- 28 Gms. .246 (28-114), 18 RBI, 17 runs, 30 K's--7 walks. 1 HR, 3 triples, 6 doubles, 2 stolen bases. OBP .298.
Kevin Whelan had a good fall league except for too many walks. He had his worst game Thursday in the final game, allowing 3 runs in 1 inning to raise his ERA to 2.08. AFL Totals -- 17.1 IP, 4 ER, 11 hits, 21 K's--14 walks, BAA..175
Humberto Sanchez trying to rebound from TJ surgery, had a rough AFL. This final week he threw 2 scoreless innings Mon., but got pounded for 3 runs on 4 hits (3 doubles) in 0.1 IP Thurs. AFL Totals -- 11 Gms. 12 IP, 16 ER, 21 hits, 4 K's---11 walks.
HAWAII WINTER LEAGUE --- The HWL ended this week with Yankee prospects helping the Waikiki Beach Boys win the league championship.
Jeremy Bleich the 2008 draft pick had an outstanding HWL. Bleich was named to the HWL All League Team. The lefty started 7 games with a 3-2 record and 1.77 ERA, BAA. .221, HWL Totals -- 35.2 IP, 7 ER, 29 hits, 33 K's---12 walks.
Andrew Brackman the 2007 1st round draft pick, recovering form T J Surgery had a his first taste of pro ball. In 8 starts he went 3-4. 34 IP, 21 ER, 31 hits, 36 K's--but 25 walks, BAA. .235
Damon Sublett appeared in 20 games, .253 (19-75). 19 RBI, 15 runs, 2 HR, 6 doubles, 1 triple. but 23 K's--3 walks.
Austin Romine appeared in 17 games, batting .208 (11-53). He finished with 4 RBI, 8 runs, 9 K's--7 walks. 4 doubles, 1 triple.
CARIBBEAN WINTER LEAGUES
Ian Kennedy made his 3rd start at Puerto Rico Tuesday. Kennedy went 5 innings allowing 2 runs on 2 hits (double, single). He struggled with his command allowing 5 walks. Kennedy had 2 K's. PRWL Totals -- 3 Gms, 12.2 IP, 5 ER, 8 Hits (1 HR), 14 K--9 BB, BAA. .190.
Robinson Cano played his 1st game Friday for Estrelles in the DWL. Cano went 1-5. Saturday he went 1-4 with a 2-run single and walk. Cano was the DH. 2 Gms, .222 (2-9).
Jonathan Albadedejo pitching well at Puerto Rico, 2 games this week, 2.1 IP, 0 runs, 1 hit. PRWL Totals -- 4 Gms, 4.1 IP, 0 runs, 3 hits, 3 K--1 walk.
Melky Cabrera started playing this week at the Domincan playing in 6 games. DWL Totals -- 348 (8-23), 3 RBI, 1 double, 3 K's--1 walk.
Justin Christian went 7-18 this week with a home run and 3 doubles. MWL Totals--.284 (33-116), 14 RBI, 3 HR, 5 doubles, 9 SB.
Ramiro Pena playing in Mexico went 5-25 for the week. MWL Totals -- 12 Gms. .256 (11-43), 6 RBI, 4 runs, 1 HR.
Walter Ibarra played in only 2 games at Mexico this week going 0-7. MWL Totals -- .231 (12-52), 2 RBI, 2 runs, 2 SB. Wilkins Arias made 2 relief appearaces this 2 week, 1 inning, 2 runs. DWL Totals -- 11 Gms, 7 IP, 12 ER, 11 hits, 10K--6 BB, BAA .344.
