Colletti cleared up a misunderstanding after it was widely reported that left-hander CC Sabathia, the top free-agent pitcher on this year's market, had told him he wants to pitch for the Dodgers. What Colletti actually said was that Sabathia had made the Dodgers aware, not directly but through conversations with third parties, that he had a desire to pitch for them.CC's agent probably told Colletti that he would like to pitch for them.

In the Bellagio Hotel to meet with Yankees brass on Sunday night, free-agent pitcher CC Sabathia ran into Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti and told him he wants to be a Dodger, Colletti said on Monday.Colletti didn't reveal any more of the conversation, but he allowed there's "a possibility" that the Dodgers could enter the mix for the native Californian, who hasn't accepted a three-week-old offer from the Yankees of six years and $140 million.
Well, this isn't good for the Yanks.

Not sure MP, probably 50-50 chance they get involved. But if they do get involved I'd say he's probably gonna end up there.

Rich, you do know Lowe wants 4-6 years? I'd stay far far away from that. Way too many years for a 36 year old, especially when you can sign Pettitte to a one year deal.
I don't think Lowe will get more than four years, but if a deal can't be reached with him, I would have Sheets as a fallback position.
It's not as if CC doesn't carry a lot of risk, given the contract and his girth. Similarly, Lowe will turn 36 next season. btw, Their respective career ERA+ is almost identical (while Sheets's ERA+ isn't that much lower).
So it's a matter of making the most out of what's possible. The Yankees should be able to pay more than any other team (including the Red Menace) for Lowe, who has said that he wants to play on the East Coast.
Similarly, Tex seems to be merely a matter of money, and the the Yankees have an abundance of that.
In sum, there are a number of good options beyond CC and the Yankees should be able to exploit them quickly, if they don't become fixated on CC.
Rich, I totally agree that they should sign Teixeira. However, I don't think four years, or even three years for Lowe is worth it. I'd rather sign Pettitte, Burnett, or Sheets.
If no CC, that means.... NO CC!!
