Saturday's Sabathia Rumors

- It was reported yesterday by Jon Heyman that two teams besides the Yankees and Brewers have made offers to CC Sabathia.
That friend also suggested there have been more than just the two known bidders -- the anxious Yankees and just-as-anxious Brewers -- in the game for some time. Two bids from two other undisclosed teams came in before Thanksgiving, the friend said. ... Those teams still remain a mystery today.
Today, Anthony McCarron of the Daily News had this to say:

Sports Illustrated's Web site reported Friday that Sabathia has received two other offers beyond those of the Yankees and Brewers, but did not identify the teams making them. The Giants have been portrayed as a possibility, but the baseball official was skeptical.

"That's not happening," the official said. "They'd have to pay him and Barry Zito (who has completed two disappointing seasons of a seven-year, $126 million deal). Now you'd have two guys on the same team making $40 million of your payroll. Where are they getting the money? It'd be a great thing to do, but you've got to be realistic.

"Nothing's changed with CC," the official added. "I'm still convinced there are only two offers. I don't believe the Angels were ever in it. This guy is going to have to make a decision soon."

The official speculated that Sabathia's agent, Greg Genske, was simply being patient in trying to determine if any other offers would materialize. Ultimately, though, the official said, the Yankees "will get him. I've never seen the breed of these guys who leaves that kind of money on the table."

- Ken Davidoff reported today that the Brewers may be willing to add a sixth year to their offer to CC. But he says the value of the deal would probably be $110 million.

CC better get on the ball, I feel like the Yankees have something up their sleeves.. something big if he can't make up his mind.

NO other team will DARE go over 140 million. If anyone believes Burnett is the back up option to CC being the number 1 starter we need, they are NUTS.

I WANT Lowe, but he is not the fall back either. WE need a number 1. Wang is the number two.. Jaba is a number 1, or 2 on any other team. He will be our number 3. We need a 1, a 4 and a 5. And a safe # 6 just incase.. Phil Hughes.

We need punch for a bat. Manny is Edgar Martinez with more pop. SIGN HIM!!!

TRADE Hideki Matsui.. I think he use to shoot up back in Japan. those bad knees are telling.... big head. just a thought.

I'd much rather the Yankees sign Pettitte over Lowe. Pettitte would only be a one year deal, and Lowe wants 5 years and $80 million. If the Yanks, or any team gives him that they're crazy.

I like Sheets and CC as well.

Offensively I'd rather see the Yanks sign Teixeira over Manny. He fills two needs as opposed to one, and is younger.

Can they do all of this? Probably not, but they'd have one hell of a team if they did.

I'm getting tired of this CC stuff, too. I also wouldn't mind Matsui taking a hike.

At any rate, we need to do something before Christmas, and hopefully that will happen. I suppose I should have more trust in the Yankees' front office, but after the last few years that's a bit hard for me to do. I'm doing my best to keep the faith, though.

Mike, the Yankees just need to get things done before the season. Really, are you going to be angry if they sign CC on January 3rd? I know I won't be.

I'm getting impatient too, but nothing is happening with any of the big names out there, it's a slow market.

Well, I suppose I can wait a day or two more.... (wink)

my yankee team would look like this:

1. DeJesus CF
2. Jeter SS
3. Arod 3B
4. Manny DH
5. Posada C
6. Nady RF
7. Swisher LF
8. Cano 2B
9. Casey Blake 1B

1.CC
2.Wang
3.Joba
4.Sheets/ Lowe
5.Pettitte
----------------------------------
6.Hughes
7.Aceves

I would like to get rid of Matsui and Damon. If we could get some prospects for them great. I read that a Matsui- Randy Winn deal is possible... I love the way Casey Blake plays, he wont cost a fortune and he can 3rd base if we need him to. Blake seems like a winner, he was a big part of the Indian and Dodger playoff teams... DeJesus had the best AVG with RISP last year, over .400, has speed, seems clutch, he always scares me, remember the HR vs Mo in that tie game? It would be a homecoming for him just like Manny.

Of course I would love to have Teixeira but he may ask for too many years, and he'll likely go to the Angels if we get CC.
