Pettitte To Houston Unlikely

From Alyson Footer:

So while Pettitte may be "softening his stance," the Astros aren't doing the same when it comes to their budget.

Have the Astros reached out to Pettitte? Has Pettitte contacted the Astros?

According to general manager Ed Wade, no and no.

"We haven't had any discussion with Andy or his representatives and we don't see a scenario where he would fit into our payroll scenario at this time," Wade said.

With every new report Andy and his situation look worse and worse. There may come a time very shortly where he's sitting at home in Houston kicking himself for not taking the Yankees $10 million offer.

well well well, are you gonna come back and take the 10 mil now?... who else is out there, the Rangers?, the Mets? Quit playin around and sign the damn contract.

Cutting off his nose to spite his face. He's holding out for pride, but in the end he's going to be miserable for it, and $10M poorer.

The more that happens in this soap opera, the worse he looks.

It would be interesting to see how Andy would have handled this situation if he actually cared about money.

What will be really interesting is if his anger with the Yankees is real and he goes somewhere else for less money. Because, no other team is going to give him more than 10 mil, and negotiations with the Yankees don't seem to be going well. All I'm going to say is it better not be an AL team, or an NL team that comes to the stadium, cause that will get ugly.
