Free-agent righthander Freddy Garcia is talking to a few teams, including the Yankees, Mets, Rangers and White Sox and is expected to make a deal in coming days. Garcia, 118-77 for his career, was given a clean bill of health after pitching briefly in winter ball.Last year with the Tigers he went 1-1 with a 4.20 ERA, and struck out 12 and walked 6 in 15 innings pitched.
If they don't end up coming to terms with Pettitte - and it doesn't look like they're going to - Garcia wouldn't be a bad backup plan.

That's fine by me Mike.
Seems like this guy is always right on the fringe of being able to put something together and something goes wrong. He wouldn't be a bad guy to get on a minor league deal or a cheaper major league deal (2yr, $4M?) and see what he's got.
No chance he takes a minor league deal. I say he goes to the White Sox, Ozzie Guillen loves him.
