CC Lined Up For The Opener

According to Mark Feinsand of the Daily News, CC Sabathia said he will make his first spring training start on March 6th. That will line him up to be the opening day starter on April 6th in Baltimore.

"I have not officially made an announcement," Girardi said. "But it's a pretty good assumption."

Said Sabathia: "If I do get that opportunity, I'll definitely cherish it. It would be an honor."

That's different. Usually, Joe Girardi waited until like the last week of Spring Training to announce his Opening Day starter.

Also, wouldn't this mean CC pitches the first game at the new Stadium?

They would have to skip someone's start for that to work out that way.

The Yanks start off with a 9-game, 10-day road trip. So it might be Joba who gets the opener at the Stadium.

Also, have you seen Giambi at A's camp? He has a full beard! (and most of it's grey)

Yea I saw that. I'm sure he's loving not having to shave.

Oh I guess I forgot to mention he plans to shave it.

That's very surprising.

Wang Can crank his fastball above 95mph as well as Joba, CC, AJ from what I recall. Nice !

Yea Anon, the Yankees have four guys who can hit 90+ consistently.

Hopefully Hughes can maintain the velocity he had in the Arizona Fall League, then they'd have five.

Hughes can probably reach 96+ once he is in his middle 20's.
