According to
Peter Abraham and
Pete Caldera, Joe Girardi mentioned today that he was leaning toward having Mark Teixeira bat third and A-Rod bat fourth. That would give the Yankees a lineup that looks like this:
Damon LF
Jeter SS
Teixeira 1B
A-Rod 3B
Matsui DH
Posada C
Nady/Swisher RF
Cano 2B
Melky/Gardner CF
Not too shabby.

pretty decent haha
I disagree with this. Teixeira needs to bat behind, especially with this steroid news. A-Rod is going to be under a lot of pressure, and needs as much protection as possible to avoid slumps. Plus, unless he was on steroids while he was with the Yankees and is going to decline big time next year, A-Rod is out best overall hitter and you want you best hitter up in the first inning. It should be Damon, Jeter, A-Rod, Teixeira.
But this is an EVEN BETTER LINE-UP!!
Damon CF
Jeter SS
Teixeira 1B
A-Rod 3B
Matsui DH
Posada C
Swisher RF
Nady LF
Cano 2B
I don't think Joe will put Swisher and Posada back to back. You'll want to split up those switch hitters, so I think at the bottom it'll be posada, cano, swisher, gardner/cabrera (of course if it's melky you'll still have 2 back to back, but at that point it's kinda irrelevant b/c they'd have 4 switch hitters in the lineup).
I also don't think there's any chance that Damon's in center a majority of the time. Perhaps occasionally, like when Wang's on the mound or something since he's not a FB pitcher by any stretch of the imagination. But otherwise it'll be Melky or Gardner, even if they only hit .200.
