The next words out of Alex Rodriguez's mouth, the first since he was outed for steroids use by Sports Illustrated, will set the tone for how he has viewed for what's left of his baseball career. He is expected to utter those words on ESPN, probably later Monday, probably with veteran baseball reporter Peter Gammons.
It's no surprise that A-Rod would make his first public statement on ESPN and with Gammons. A-Rod may issue a statement, followed by his interview, which is believed to have already been taped. And if Gammons doesn't then the interview will be a-fraud. I hope Alex knows that supplement excuse is not going to fly, it will probably make him look a lot worse.
Don't be surprised if A-Rod offers the usual explanations for having been caught on a steroid test: He had a medical condition. He thought he was taking a supplement, maybe in a shake. He didn't know what it was.
If so, Gammons, on whomever the interview is, should be allowed to challenge those assertions.
This will definitely be must-see-TV, that's for sure.

q: you must have been concerned after the 2003 test that your use of steroids might be discovered. after seeing how bond's career was destroyed by trying to hide his steroid use, why did gamble on waiting to be outed rather than come forward and admit your use?
q2: have you purchased any stocks recently and which ones? people would probably like to short those gambles too.
A-Rod admitted to using for the 3 years he was with Texas!
